Felix Jansson is a Swedish orchestral and trailer music composer currently based in Berlin, Germany.
Jansson began producing music virtually in 2012, at the age of 16, when he discovered the world of DAWs and found one already pre-installed on his school laptop. His initial orchestral pieces were put together using classical stock loops to form cohesive and unified pieces without any previous knowledge about the fundamentals of modern day orchestras.
Only a year later he got introduced to FL Studio where he first attempted to produce EDM. However, he soon realized that all his projects shared similar traits – they were all very orchestral-oriented.
In 2014, during his final year in Upper Secondary School, Jansson chose to compose and produce an E.P. consisting of five orchestral tracks for his final examination project. With the guidance of his mentor and tutor, Örjan Örnkloo, electronic arranger for In Flames, his arrangement and production techniques rapidly improved. The E.P. ultimately awarded Jansson first prize as “The Best Examination Project” in the musical category. As a result, he created a YouTube channel as a personal diary, where he would track his progress while sharing his music with the world.
Storytelling has always been the foundation of Jansson’s approach to music composition.
In 2022, he composed and produced his first concept album, “Dimensia,” which he created to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s Disease for a university project. The album was then published and released in 2023 via the university’s SoundCloud page. Following that, Jansson wanted to learn more about the art of storytelling and began writing music suitable for visual media, such as for trailers, films and games. Today, his work is centered around writing music that elicits relatable emotions within the listener.
“One of the best feelings in the world is having someone come up to me and say that they connected with my music on an emotional level. Whether it’s a friend of my mom’s, a coworker or me getting a private message from someone I’ve never met. I just want to inspire people the way my role models have inspired me.”
